Dear Fellow Traveller,
The world continues to be reeling from this COVID-19 situation, and I've had many discussions with my team about how we ought to communicate with the travellers in this community.
The situation is evolving faster than anyone can reasonably keep tabs on, and while we are certainly paying as close attention as anyone, I don't think your friendly neighbourhood travel community is the best source for the newest developments. We'll leave that to the health and government authorities, and of course the media will see to it as well, for better or for worse.
There will be a time when this is all past us, and although none of us know when that will be, it's important to stay positive and find things to look forward to. Social media and the news is a black hole of fear of negativity right now, so perhaps our webinars and upcoming trips can offer a bit of escapism or mental relief from it all, even if only for a few minutes.
In this vein, I'm pleased to announce the release of our first 'Weekends' program here in Canada - a trip exploring the rugged beauty of Newfoundland's northwest coast, currently scheduled for September. You can find the itinerary below, and a link to join us for the webinar on Thursday next week if you'd like to learn more!
And, just to be crystal clear - we will not be operating any trips where there is a question of safety for our members. We will always put you and your safety first, and monitor all situations as they unfold. I have no idea what the future will bring, but I do believe we will eventually get it all under control, and then there will be travelling to do!
Lastly, I implore you to take the advice of the experts and take the necessary precautions to stay safe and healthy. There's no question that right now is not a time to be travelling, unless it is otherwise unavoidable.
I also appreciate that some members of our community live in more isolated communities, and that social distancing will be difficult for many of us. Perhaps we can arrange a virtual 'coffee connection' webinar to connect and share a few stories or a laugh in these otherwise difficult times. If this appeals to you or you have other ideas, please drop me a note and I'll set something up 🙂
Cheers!
