Greetings from Thailand!
In this past week's webinar A Short Chat about Long Stays we discussed four potential long stay plans for Wheel & Anchor - two warmer destinations in Costa Rica and Thailand, and two more temperate ones in Madeira and Cyprus.
As was noted by one our members on the webinar, those of us who like to spend portions of the winter cruising need some alternative options, and the same goes for those of us who like to spend all or some of the winter in the southern parts of the US.
It was a very interesting discussion and I was surprised by the preferences of destinations from those who joined us. Check out the replay and let me know your thoughts on long stays!
We also released two itineraries in the past week, one for our newest program, Yachting the Turkish Mediterranean, and the other for our rescheduled program to Croatia, Slovenia, and the Adriatic Coast in October of 2021, where we've changed the program slightly and have a new (and better ship).
We'll be doing the webinar for Croatia on August 13, so join us to dream a bit about floating by the spectacular Adriatic Coast.
Lastly, I want to say thank you for your feedback and participation in our community here, in particular as we weather the storm of the pandemic that has all of us travellers grounded for the time being. I don't think anyone can predict the end just yet, but we can stay hopeful and ready for when we can free our souls on the open road again.
Cheers!

Just watched replay on Long term stays and thought I’d give you my thoughts for your survey.
1. Love all locations but I’ve been to Thailand and area, so think b/c distance it would be my last. Choice. I also did a great adventure trip around Costa Rica ,like how close it is, and getting away from winter, but it can be too hot. So think I like both Madeira or Cyprus because of the activity, and Cyprus would be my top choice.
2.travel in general, when would I go? I’m ready to go now, except I’m finding that I’m also rather conservative when it comes to viruses, really not interested in flying long hauls and intermingling crowds. So guess it’s whenever I feel it’s safe……who knows when.
3. I would really like different activities like walking, biking, kayaking, horseback riding maybe, to be part of my trip
4. Your webinar reallywhet my desire to go! Thanks
Susan
I watched your webinar on long stays and think they are a great idea as they allow you to really get comfortable with a location. I would think they would allow you to get rested and therefore make your stay more enjoyable. We have always wanted to spend more time in England and so a long stay in the south of England would allow for so many options for spending our time. Even a pop over to Paris. We are on hold of course until this virus has met its maker. Enjoying your contact with the group, keeping us all looking forward.

HI Carolyn ! Thanks very much for your thoughts. Indeed it seems like Madeira and Cyprus were the clear favourites based on feedback from the webinar so far. All those kinds of activities you mentioned would be things that we would look to put into the program agenda with as much flexibility as possible for participants.
Indeed, we are all looking forward to travelling again … hopefully sooner than later !

Hi Susan ! Thanks for the thoughts on the south of England. I agree that the south of England could be great spot for a long stay… more likely in the spring and fall as the winter months there are very damp and grey and not the most pleasant. Looking forward to catching up with you again soon as well !
