Island-Hopping in Thailand? + Cyprus LiveAway

Greetings from Thailand!

I took some time recently off Koh Phangan to bounce around and see how things are on to some of Thailand's other islands, including Koh Samui, the Phi Phi Islands, and Phuket.

As you can probably imagine, these islands feel completely different without the usual hordes of tourists, and while the locals I spoke with generally put on a smile, I could sense the struggle they've been facing without the travellers they depend on for their livelihoods. I made a short video below about my experience, and whether we might consider some of these other islands for our Thailand LiveAway program.

And speaking of LiveAways, I'm pleased to release our third LiveAway this week, this time to Cyprus, happening in March 2022!

If trips were children, this one might be my favourite...Cyprus has a fascinating history as a cultural crossroads in Europe, a fusion of different tastes in their cuisine, and thousands of years of wine-making history, to say nothing of beautiful beaches and comfortable weather in March.

(It's a good thing trips aren't children, as it really wouldn't do to announce that to your whole community... :D)

Among my European friends, Cyprus has always rated highly as a holiday destination, but very few of my Canadian friends have been there, perhaps because there are no direct flights from Canada, and the perception in the media here that it hasn't been safe due to disagreements between Turkish and Greek Cypriots over the status of the island.

I can assure you it's safe (we wouldn't go if it wasn't) and that it promises to be one of those off-the-beaten-path gems that most of your traveller friends in Canada have never experienced.

We'll be doing the webinar this coming Thursday for Cyprus, so if you're curious, join us! You can find the registration link in your newsletter.

Overall we've had a great response for both Samui & Madeira so far, which means next winter is shaping up to be a lot more fun than this one! We have a few hurdles to cross yet on the travel front, but generally speaking there's lots to look forward to do...and of course more to come 🙂

Cheers!
