The Surge & the Squeeze: How Travel Will Bounce Back

April 24th, 2021

Greetings from Thailand!

Well, May is nearly upon us, and while the optimists among us (like yours truly) had hoped we'd be staring at the finish line and packing our bags, the waiting game continues amidst the latest surge of cases.

It seems this latest variant is particularly contagious, so although there has never been more temptation to sack off all the advisories and go out, I hope we can all find the fortitude to hold back just a few more weeks and see if we can get to the end of this.

As it happens, while yet another delay is misery for us as travellers, there is perhaps a small benefit to the hotels, airlines, and other businesses in the travel industry that are trying to figure out how to be ready for the huge pent up demand for travel.

As much as they need the influx of cash and travellers, scaling back up to be able to serve the market is no small feat. I've touched on some of the challenges in this week's video, including resuscitating aircraft that have been put into storage, the hiring challenge hotels and other travel businesses will face, and what this all might mean for us. Interesting times ahead, to say the least.

In other news, we've released our rescheduled island-hopping adventure through the Greek isles, which you can find in your newsletter, as well as the registration link for next week's webinar for the trip. There's also a sign up for our upcoming webinar for our Ireland program, which we'll be releasing shortly.

Lastly, we are very close to finishing our first '5x5' program through Scandinavia, which I'm very excited about. Stay calm, stay safe, and stay tuned for more...the good times are still in front of us.
