Greetings from Thailand!
In this past week's webinar I referenced a famous Einstein quote, that "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." A smart observation from a smart guy.
And yet here we are - planning, postponing, and still planning more trips. And on top of that, at some point, I do expect different results...Albert might not be impressed.
Perhaps the only thing I've got going for me is a belief that we ought to direct attention to things we can control, instead of to things we can't. Being ready for when travel does return is at least within our influence, if not control, so that's the game for now.
Hence the return of our Trip Inspiration Questionnaire, this time gazing into the future in 2023. We have many trips scheduled for 2022 and we hope to go on as many of them as possible; looking to 2023 will greatly help us plan and be able to respond rather than react if other trips have to be postponed or moved around.
The longer travel takes to return on a safe and widespread scale, the more demand is going to increase, and yet the longer travel takes to return, the harder it is for supply to be ready to serve that demand. Supply in this case means hotels, flights, cruise ships, and so on. Everyone is waiting for the same green light, and it will come...so fortune will favour the lucky and the prepared.
In light of this, all you need to do to participate is indicate whether or not you would like to be on the pre-release list for a particular trip. Those on the pre-release list for any trip will receive the full trip details 2 weeks before the rest of the community and the public, so you'll have first dibs on any trip you want to go on, in the case that supply is very restricted.
So, assuming I haven't made you question my sanity completely, if you have a few minutes to run through some fun ideas for 2023 in our questionnaire in your newsletter, I would be most grateful.
We'll also be doing Part II of our webinar series about the trips in the Questionnaire, where we'll be looking at trips to Morocco, the Black Sea, India, and more. Join us if you are free 🙂
Lastly, I received many kind words and messages of empathy last week for us and the travellers who were planning to come to Samui in January. Your support means a lot and we will not be deterred from our mission!
