A Traveller’s Tradition

December 29th, 2018

Greetings from Thailand for my final update of 2018!

Every year around this time, a few of my friends and I call or message each other and ask some variation of these questions as we consider the year that was and the year ahead:

What from last year will you bring into this one?
What will you leave behind?
And what do you plan on doing more of in the year ahead?

It's been an adventure starting Wheel & Anchor this year, and I can't wait to share the exciting things we have coming up in 2019. I'm deeply grateful to all who have helped me start, grow, and maintain this wonderful community of travellers.

A Polite Visitor’s Guide To Bowing In Japan

December 29th, 2018

In July of this year, the Japanese national football team were on the verge of victory in their knockout round of the FIFA World Cup. They were 2-0 up against Belgium, and 52 minutes were on the clock. Belgium’s defeat was virtually in the bag.

In World Cup history, there are very, very few teams who make a two-goal comeback from so late in a knockout game (the last time was in 1970).

Unfortunately for Japan, one of those teams turned out to be Belgium.

Tired from your vacation? Try wellness travel instead

December 27th, 2018

You’ve heard the saying: You need a vacation from your vacation. Sometimes you make the mistake of overloading your travel itinerary, so by the time you arrive home, you’re more tired than ever.

Vacation should be a time to re-energize your body and mind, not an occasion for stress.

Greetings from Koh Phangan, Thailand!
